Sponsor Update

It is nearly the end of our semester, and the team has been busy, busy, busy. We are super excited about all the support we have gotten so far, and are working hard to get our sub in the water by December. Here are a few of our sponsor highlights.

Microstrain

We have received a extremely tiny Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) from Microstrain. This is the sensor that gives readings
on its location in regards to heading and orientation. As you can see from the pictures, the new IMU is roughly half the size of the old IMU. During testing, we noticed a better reaction time to measure changes in orientation, and the range at which interference from magnetic fields dropped some.

Portwell

We received two (also tiny) PEB 2771VG2A embedded pc’s from Portwell. Not only did we get the pc’s, but Portwell graciously donated on-board memory and a 8gb compact flash for each board. We have not been able to test these boards out as of yet, however, we have no doubts that these little boards will preform well above expectation.
